What is Respite Care?
Respite care can be planned or emergency temporary care provided to caregivers of a child or adult. Sitters provides respite care for planned short-term and time-limited breaks for caregivers of children with developmental delays or behavioral problems and for adults with an intellectual disability or cognitive loss in order to support and maintain the primary care giving relationship.
Who benefits from Respite Care?
While many families take pride and joy in being able to provide care for their loved ones so they can remain at home, often times the physical, emotional, and financial consequences for the family caregiver can be overwhelming without some support. Respite provides a positive experience for the person receiving care in addition to providing support and potential health benefits to the caregiver.
